Foreword

Atman in Sanskrit means the Soul or Spirit, an immaterial entity integrated or assimilated in a living body which cannot be detected by our five senses. In Atman Veda we describe qualitatively different models of Atman borne today by the the Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and the Humanists. The relation of Atman to a body appears to be like that of the epigenes to the genes. The twins from a single egg resemble each other physically because of identical DNA, but they become different by epigenes, for example, - in fingerprint, behaviour and cognitive achievement. All human beings are 99.9% alike in their 25000 genes, but even two human siblings may be distinct in Atman like that between dogs and wolves (which have have almost 100% common genes).

Veda is a forbidden fruit          Is Atman an operative system?

Veda in Sanskrit means Knowledge or Science. This work, Atman Veda, the Science of the Spirit, is a congruence of the world people’s knowledge about Atman within the frame of Model-Independent Realism. Life quality is described in Atman Veda for four qualitatively different groups of people: A, B, C and D, plus three more groups AB, BC, and CD. A non-antagonistic relation of Atman and Biological body is postulated for maximum life score. The estimated qualitative and quantitative score of one’s life is subjective, arbitrary and changeable, and that may differ largely between self-grading and the grading by an observer.

   Model of Atman

I love old women

ugly women

ill-tempered women.

They are the salt of the earth

humane, not dirtied dustbins.

They know the other side

of fame, love and beliefs

which come and go.

Dictators fulfil their follies

have hands stained by human blood.

Old women get up early every morning

 buy fruits, meat, and bread,

clean, prepare food,

sit silent at the roadside with hands in cross.

Old women are immortals.

HINTS OF ATMAN

Our ancestors believed that Atman or the Spirit was a material entity which could be detected by our five senses. That belief about Atman or the Spirit has been borne to many of us by our grandparents. Unfortunately, only a few of us know about the futile experiments to catch Atman or the Spirit. One of such experiments was carried out at the eastern part of India during the later part of nineteenth century. It was narrated to me by my paternal grandfather when I was a young boy. That Atman-Experiment was done under the auspices of a young Zamindar (Revenue Collector) who believed from Holy scripts of the Hindus that Atman or the Spirit was a yellowy green liquid which sublimed to the sky when departed from human body.

“It is here”,- said my paternal grandfather, “Where our young Hindu Zamindar Babu of Ganga Mandal Pargana made his experiment nearby his court in Burichong in an attempt to catch the Atman which we Muslims call for the Ruha”. Only a few worn-out lightly red brick-walls stood in four stacks as the witness for that experimental set-up to catch the postulated yellowy green Atman. The experiment was an open secret which was stopped after three futile attempts and the little house was demolished.

My grandfather was quite young when he for the first time followed his father on foot to Burichong, ten kilometres east of our village, for the payment of yearly land revenue. The court was situated on the other side of the river Gomati, and twenty kilo-metres north of the town Comilla, a part of the Kingdom of Tripura annexed to British India. To cross over the river Gomati was a dangerous task. It was very turbulent during the rainy season. During the dry season the river was covered by quicksand over which one must walk fast, otherwise get sunk in it. My first and last visit to Burichong was during a spring in 1950s. But, later I always in my life recalled my lesson how to go fast over quicksand. The reader of this book is warned that a travel in the Atman world is like going over a semi-dry ocean of quicksand where you must walk fast. Otherwise, there is great risk to be trapped forever in a particular model of Atman.

When the Atman-Experiment was performed, India was ruled by the British, and Kolkata (Calcutta) was her capital. Ganga Mandal Pargana then belonged to Tripura district, about two hundred kilometres north-east of Kolkata. At that time it was said, -“What Bengal thinks today, India thinks that tomorrow.” The hypothesis of Bengali physicist S.N. Bose of Dhaka Univesity led us to know about the elementary particle boson named after him. Botanist J.C. Bose discovered that plants also had lives.

      S N Bose                                    J C Bose                          Rabindra Nath Tagore

But no scientist yet knew whether any widowed Indian woman had life. It was Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore who discovered that many Indian widows drowned themselves by fastening water-pitchers across their necks, in order to prove that they were not lifeless. They had been still alive under widowship. But what is life, and what is the Atman or the soul?

Then our Zamindar Babu living in Burichong, perhaps inspired by the discovery of Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore, planned to catch the Atman or the soul. His men constructed a water-pool indoors, and a large box of glass which was open downside. The glass box could be lifted up, and it could then put down over the water pool air-tight. An Atman escaping from inside of the glass-chamber would then be imprisoned, and thereby could be examined.

Children were easily available in India for sacrifice, although in 1830s Lord Bentinck had outlawed the practice of sacrificing children and the cremation of widows alive. People then, as now, believed in ghosts. A rich man, who had no heir, sometimes wanted to protect his wealth after his death. For this purpose, he converted his wealth into gold and silver, and then hid that in a dark room in the basement of his building. He needed a ghost called Yaksha who would keep that wealth under constant watch forever, and kill any intruder immediately. To have a ghost Yaksha, a minor boy was stolen from somewhere, and imprisoned in the basement of his house. When the boy had died there after a few days, out of hunger and thirst, his Atman became a ferocious ghost Yaksha, which would guard the gold and silver preserved there. If someone attempted to break into the basement of the house, then he would come to hear a ghostly cry generated from that room.

Atman of a dead boy as Yaksha guard

Therefore, the Zamindar Babu living in Burichong felt nothing wrong in using young children in his experiment for catching Atman. He believed that Atman was made of material of which rich people used to make the ghost Yaksha. Our Zaminder Babu had no need for a Yaksha to guard his wealth. He was eager to fetch Atman with an indigenous experiment. May be, he cherished the hope of a Nobel Prize like Rabindra Nath Tagore, not in Literature, but in Medicine or Peace. His men managed to steal three young children of the age three or four. One by one three children were inserted in the glass-chamber in the water-pool for the Atman-experiment.

My grandfather narrated to me what he had heard from the others about the Atman-Experiment. It did not take long time for a child, who could not swim, to die in the pool. Then it was time to check the chamber sharply. Our Zamindar Babu believed in Hindu Holy books where it was stated that Human Atman was a yellowy green substance. After death Atman must sublime towards Heaven in the sky. But after many hours of constant watch, no such thing could be observed. Then, after a very careful check, the Zamindar Babu and his assistants discovered a crack over one sheet of glass of the chamber. They understood that the Atman had escaped away through the crack.

In case of the second child, the experimenters were much more careful. At that time they found nothing inside, although the all the glass sheets of the chamber were intact. Frustrated, they made their last attempt with the third child, and became fully disappointed. The experiment forever was abandoned.

As mentioned above, Lord Bentinck outlawed the practice cremating widows alive. Widows were tightly bound to the corpse of dead husband. During cremation, the cremators played drums loudly so that none could hear the cry of the widows being cremated alive. The pious reform of Lord Bentinck was opposed by the majority of Indian elites, and sixty thousands of them had filed petitions against the reforms to the British Parliament, but failed to stop it. However, in the year 1857, the Queen Victoria confiscated India from the British East India Company after the great Indian revolt. The Queen pledged never to interfere in Indian holy customs. But the promulgations of Lord Bentinck were not revoked. Most of the Indian widows escaped cremation alive which gave Tagore the opportunity to discover that Indian widows also had lives.

Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore was frustrated over the native scientist who had discovered that plants also had lives. Tagore observed that Botanist J C Bose, born in the village of Rarhikhal (which means widow canal) in Dhaka, had callously missed that the Indian widows also had lives which they proved by frequent suicidesThe conservatives blamed Lord Bentinck for the sufferings of Hindu widows because he had outlawed that the holy practice of burning widows alive. Tagore ultimately confirmed that the Indian widows also had lives and he depicted that vividly in his writings. Many widowed Indian women who had not drowned themselves in fear of the sin of committing violent  suicide, adopted decade long slow suicide through asceticism, which was glorious one.

Conservatives blame Lord Bentinck for the sufferings of Hindu widows because he had outlawed that the holy practice of burning widows alive. One may wonder why our Zamindar Babu of Burichong stole young children in his Atman-Experiment while he certainly knew from the findings of Tagore that Indian widows, who were like things existing for no reason, had lives too. There were many young Hindu widows at hand who were ready to come forward, fastening water-pitchers across their necks, to offer their lives as Guinea pigs for the shake of the Atman-Experiment. Perhaps, it would then need a much bigger and heavier glass-chamber for the experiment. But the problem was more than technical one.

Atman of a dead young widow seduces men

The Atmans of young widows, who committed suicide by drowning themselves under water, became one kind of nymphs whom the Indians called Shakchunni. These nymphs, usually suffering from nymphomania, were fond of young handsome men. In disguise of a fair-complexioned young girl, a Shakchunni tried to seduce a young man from dusk to dawn, whom she allured towards a water-pool or a canal. There she pushed him into water, and pressed hard him until he ejaculated his Atmanalso. Thus she got one more permanent partner. Perhaps, therefore our Zaminder Babu of Burichong was afraid of using young widows in his experiment.

Although never again I went to Burichong, that visit remains lively in my memory after more than half a century. The village named Buri-Chong was fascinating to me in my thinking, because "Buri" means old woman and "chong" means a small ladder. What had the old woman to do with her small ladder after which that village was named? Does the Atman of that old lady sweep over the sky of that village? Had she any desire to be reborn in that village? Where is her Atman at present? Did she meet the Atmans of those three children used in the Atman-Experiment? If the freed Atmans could do so many things, why do they only wrong things? I often wondered whether the Atmans of the children sacrificed roam only over the sky of Burichong or fly up to our village of Allahabad. Could they hear of us when we talked about them? I had heard thousands of stories about such body-less Atman before I read the works of Shakespeare. I myself have witnessed a few tragic incidents which people attributed as the acts of ghosts like Yaksha and Shakchunni. I was warned by well-wishers to avoid them. I learnt the most important clue how to detect them. A body-less Atman as a ghost appears identical to a living being, but it has no shadow of itself. May be, therefore they prefer to act in darkness.

WHEN DAD WAS A LAD

Since my childhood, I have been curious about Atman like cute Pandora whose curiosity brought all the troubles of human on the earth, leaving hope fastened at her casket. I cherished the dream to become a pioneer in the Science of Atman like Jesus Christ, or like some of those in Indian and Greek mythology, who could give back life. That would have been easier if Atman was a material entity. But all the hints I had received from my interractions with the material world, shatterred my childish belief that Atman was a material entity.

At the end of my teens I gave up that idea. The British drama "Monkey's Paw" changed my aim in life. Monkeys are Holy in India. Many Englishmen had superstions about exotic Indian miracles. That concerned “Monkey’s Paw” was not however an ordinary monkey's paw. It got a divine boon to fulfill the wishes of three persons, but limited to only three wishes of each person. The third person who got that Monkey’s Paw was an old family father living in England. He had a loan of one hundred thousand pound, mortged of the villa he lived in. Pursueded by his wife, the old man wished from the “Monkeys Paw” to get one hundred thousand pound on the next day. His only son, who was a sceptic, joked about it before he left home to his work at a power-station during night-shift. On the next day while the old parents had been waiting to have their breakfast as usual with their son, he did not appear. After long waiting for the breakfast, there came a man from the company where the boy worked. The stranger  informed the parents the sad news that at the late hours in the previous night their son had been killed in an accident at his work, and he gave the parents a check of one hundred thousand pounds as compensation paid by the company.

Then the bereaved parents would never more wish anything out of the boon of the “Monkey’s Paw”. But during one stormy midnight, the mother pursuded the father to pray their son to be alive again. It touched me heavily at the climax of the drama when from the instant action of the second wish, somebody madly began to knock at the door from the outside. The crying mother rushed forward, but was unable to open the stuck door by her trembling hands, and she asked the father for help. But the puzzled father, in the fear that it could be worse, utterred his last wish out of the boon of the “Monkey’s Paw”: his son to be dead again and be in peace. I understood instantly why we weep over the deads for the loss, but that is not to get back them again among us. So, I decided to abandon my dream to bring any buried or cremated one to life again, in fear that it might become worse, and wished all of them to be in eternal peaceI learnt that often we achieve something in life we run after in cost of someone more valuable. That makes us more unhappy.

What kind of ghost the English boy became after that accidental death? I knew that Hindu boys killed to guard wealth became Yaksmas. Beautiful women commiting suicide became Shakchunis. A Mental- Abuser woman became a Petni. An executed or matyrd Muslim became a ferocious ghost called Mamdo. If the Atman or soul of a Brahmin seated in the heart of his gross body was kicked of  by unnatural death, that became one powerful Brahma-Daitya living in large Banyan-trees (Ficus Benghalensis) and ruled over low-caste ghosts. As far as I know, ghosts do not die. Although many billions of people in the world believe in rebirth, they believe in immortal ghosts too. They are spirits without achieving Moksma or Nirvana. Perhaps ghosts have very long life like celestial black-holes. These ghosts were human yesterday but flying today freely on the air around us all over the world. What kind of ghosts became the children sacrificed in the Atman-Experiment? I had no idea.

             Petni                           Mamdo                   Brahma-daitya

When I was in wilderness wondering what I shall become in my life, I got  a fascinating book: WHEN DAD WAS A LAD. It was the memoir of a father telling to his young daughter about his childhood. When dad was of five years, he wanted to become a night-guard because the night mysterious to him. Then he wanted to become a ice-scream seller who would from altruism give ice cream free of cost to poor children screaming ice cream. At the age of eight he wished to become a pilot. At the age of ten he encountered something great. He read a book about dogs. He learnt how talented dogs are. Then dad wanted to become a dog. He tried to go on his fours as a dog. He barked at the people in the street who were passing by his room. When an old lady on her way came nearby to him to calm him, he barked louder. One day a frustratred passerby remarked, -“If a man want to become a dog, it is not difficult. To become a human being is very difficult.” Then dad stopped barking and he began to think. At last, he got his final aim in life. Although it was very difficult to become a human being, dad would strive to become a human being. That became his aim in life.

Afterwards, inspired by the Alchemists, I became a doctor in the field of natural philosophy instead, to serve Veda, i.e., science or knowledge. After many decades, one day I realized that a man can serve Veda very well as a guinea pig too. But, by dint of a protecting square of Jupiter upon my palm, I was luckily released from the laboratory alive. Perhaps, it was predestined that I would get a few years in bonus to go back to my childhood and be able to write Atman VedaI know it is very difficult to be a human being where the world is crowded with two-footed dogs.

Hope is the last item what one can lose. I was hopelessly lost everywhere, in the vast outer runaway universe, in the tiny inner universe of living cells, and inside of the coloured quarks. I recall why Bernard Shaw said, “Science never solves a problem without creating ten more”. Watching the freaks of lives on the land and in the sea of the planet Earth, I understand the meaning of our lives? Are we only the carriers of DNA which will improve qualitativley by generations in the stepwise process of evolution going on for billions of years! Or is it Buddhist Atman who uses us as vehicles?

Life is full of sufferings, and to be freed we have to kill all our desires. If all desires are to be supressed, as Freud claims, for the sake of the society, then why we do not commit suicide collectively, not waiting for the God Shiva or the archangel Azrail incarnated as the most merciful and beneficient President of USA utters the password, -“biscuit”, setting the updated “Little Boys” and “Fatmans” free to take all of us to heaven, none alone! We refrain from committing suicide because we all know that, in modern time, a biological death is in fact an irreversible process.

During the Second World War, before I was born, my father worked at the Indian border of Burma (Myanmar). He narrated to us of an incident two decades later. At one stage of the war, the newly recruited Indian regiment, fighting against the Japanese, faced heavy causalities. A doctor rushed there to remove the wounded. The dead soldiers were labelled with death certificate cards, to be removed away by the Domas (casteless Hindus who cremate dead bodies). When two Domas were carrying a dead soldier upon a stretcher, the dead woke up, and he found himself being carried away towards a riverside. Frightened, he screamed, “Brethren, where are you taking me!” One of the Domas replied, “Sh…, Keep quiet! Don’t speak! You are dead! A dead cannot speak! We are taking you for cremation!” The soldier cried, “No, No! You see, I am not dead”. The other Doma harshly replied, “Look at your label of death certificate issued by the doctor! You are dead! Do you think you know better than the doctor?”

It is the story about the stupidity of the two drunk Domas. But history witnesses that in the prolonged war over Atman models, there were very many Domas who cremated so many Atman on the basis of wrong death-certificates issued by many Doctors in Atman Veda. The priests, who performed sacrifice, claimed that the Atman of a sacrificed went directly to Heaven. We do not know whether any priest utterred any mantra for the souls of the children used in the Atman-Experiment.Who knows where are now theAtmans of the children sacrificed in the Atman-Experiment? But I can hear their cry when one by one they were put in the experiment chamber. They did not want to go to Heaven. They did not cry calling God. They cried calling their mothers as the children usually do. After death they remained near to their mothers as tears as long as those bereaved mothers were in life. These mothers were incapable to protect their children. It is needless to remark that the children sacrificed in the Atman-Experiment were a few of billion children who were born to unfit parents.

Human as a predator is weaker than wild cats and wild dogs. The didactics of the priests in the world made human the best of all predators by using ritual mantra. In the struggle for existence, many of the priests and their peers convince people that only they are chosen by God, and are on the right path. Then Homo sapiens feel good in slaughtering others about whom it is written in Holy scripts as they were created for Hell. However, ritual sacrifice of Human and animals has been a prehistoric tradition. Ritual sacrifice of Human is now prohibitted, but not of animals.

Today, I am an old man as my grandfather was about sixty years ago, but I do not have any grandchild to narrate about the Atman-Experiment. However, in my life-long endeavour, my knowledge about Atman has not greatly improved than that of my grandparents. I know only that yet nobody knows what Atman is and where is the seat of Atman. I know why the Atman-Experiment was futile, like that of contemporary experiment on “ether”. Both of the experiments missed validity. The existence of Atman like that of ether was neither proved, nor disproved.

I have searched Atman all the time, for nearly 2 Giga seconds. It was a Socrates-Manus-complex. If Socrates did not know what Atman is, then how could he go to search for it!

Once upon a time a man asked Buddha, -“Do you believe in Atman?”

Buddha questioned him, -“What is it?”

So, the man said, -“Then there is no Atman!”

Buddha replied, - “Where is it not?”

I have not found any better answer.

QUARREL OVER ATMAN

Once upon a time there was a butterfly

That laid an egg
And the egg became a larva
With many legs
And the larva became a pupa
So long and hard

And the pupa became a butterfly

That laid an egg
And the egg became a larva
With many legs
And the larva became a pupa
So long and hard

And the pupa became a butterfly

That laid an egg

And the egg became........

(to continue)                - Mora Trask (translated)

Butterfly is the second most abundant art of insects. Atman or the soul is an immaterial biological entity. It has been a burning question whether an immortal immaterial soul or Atman of a butterfly appears from a recycling or a new production, besides the other speculation whether its Atman is temporal one. Does the Atman or the soul of a butterfly have qualitative changes at its four stages? Is human life similar to that of a butterfly? Are we living only to eat and reproduce? In a human life-cycle, the larva-state is its childhood, and the pupa-state is its puberty. Is there any obscure relationship between post wisdom-teeth life period of a human being and its maturity of Atman?

Our ancestors believed that Atman or the Spirit was a material entity which could be detected by our five senses. That belief about Atman or the Spirit has been borne to many of us by our grandparents.

There are four basic questions about Atman unresolved over which we quarrel fiercely:

1st question:  Is Atman immortal or temporal?

2nd question: If Atman is immortal, does it recycle or to be resurrected?

3rd question:  Is there any Creator of Atman?

4th question:  Does the Creator sometimes Incarnates as only man or as animals also?

All the people of the world are divided into four camps on the basis of their difference of opinion in these four basic questions. The debate is everlasting and sometimes antagonistic. Peculiarly, those who understand least about Atman are more aggressive fighters. Many people show their belonging to faith by their dress, Icons, or Holy Scriptures.

God Vishnu                               Jewish caps                          Catholic nuns

In the first picture above, it is of God Vishnu who is the Manager God of the Universe. People, who adore Vishnu, believe that immortal Atmans recycle in Man, animals, insects, and even in inanimate. God Vishnu himself came to the Earth nine times as fish, animal and man, which is called Incarnation. This belief, all together, is defined as Pantheism, and people who belong to this doctrine are called Pantheists. Later, a half of the sceptic Pantheists gave up the idea of such a God and his Incarnation, but behold the belief of rebirth via recycle of Atman in man, animal and insects. That became another variant of Pantheism.

In the second picture we see a group of men wearing typical caps showing their belonging in a qualitatively different belief. They were to be circumcised ritually because God loves circumcision. They believe in immortal Atman for human only that never recycle, but will be resurrected by the Creator God at the doom of the Universe. This belief is defined as Monotheism.

In the third picture we may see a group of women wearing a special dress and uttering Holy verses all together. They also believe in immortal Atman for human only which never recycle, but will be resurrected by the Creator God at the doom of the Universe. However, they believe in the Incarnation of Creator God. This belief is defined as Panentheism. There are another group of people who believe in a Creator God like that in Monotheism, but also believe in recycle of Atman within Human only, which is a variant of Panentheism.

Historically, there existed some people in all societies who asserted that Atman is not immortal but temporal, and hence cannot recycle or be resurrected. Some of them were humanists, by general meaning, in the society they lived in. But there were all the time many brutes also in all societies who did not belief in the recycle or resurrection of Atman. The paradox here is the unity of idea of the opposites. Only from the beliefs, it is difficult to differentiate between humanists and the brutes. The difference would be reflected in their behaviours. The brutes without conscience were and are like things which existed and exist for no reason. In Atman aspect, the brutes were and are worse than the animals.

                            Plato                        Epicurus                          Zeno

A few of the Humanenists of ancient Greece

Currently, we can differentiate better the humanists from the brutes, although it is seldom easy. Some of the enlightened humanists believed in a Creator God, but many of them were sceptics. During the ancient period, the Pantheists, Monotheists and Panentheists, all together seldom hesitated to depict the humanists as demons. It must be pointed out that there were, and there are many humanists, in general meaning, among the Pantheists, Monotheists and Panentheists too. In absence of proper term for the concerned the humanist sophists or Stoicists in ancient Greece, and for the the Lokayata or Charvaka in ancient India, we use an ad-hoc term “Humanenism” for that doctrine, as a derivative from the word Humanism.

What kind of Atman had the children who died in the Atman-experiment?

Their Atmans are recycling if not freed forever, according to Pantheism and one fraction of Panentheism that believes in rebirth.

We would not meet their Atmans before Doom Day according to the Monotheism and the other fraction of Panentheism that believes in incarnation of God only.

Atman is temporal according to Humanenism, and when there is none to recall, that concerned Atman becomes Nothing again from which it was once created.

Yet I have not heard of anyone who could recall his or her previous life once sacrificed in that Atman-experiment glass-Chamber about a hundred years ago. One day someone may come forward in an Indian TV channel and claim that, but then probably I am no more. Then where am I? Rabindra Nath Tagore who believed in rebirth, wrote:

"Then who says I am no more at that morning?

That's I who comes as a player in all the games.

You'll call me by a new name, new arms bind me.

The same eternal Me arrives and departs away."

Four great adherents to the four models of Atman

: Einstein to Monotheism, Tagore to Pantheism, Newton to Panentheism, and Hawking to Humanenism

Montheist Albert Einstein, having double "ein" in his name, could see the limitations of logic. To him each and every the model of Atman is relatively ture to the respective adherent. If a man sitting in a running train throws a ball vertically upward, he will see the ball rising and falling in a straight line, while a stationary observer will see that the path of the ball is a curve. None of them is wrong.

Panentheist Issac Newton is waiting in his grave for the commencement of the Doom-day in the year 2060, as he calculated, when he would rise up from his grave as one of the four hundered sixty saints to rule in Heaven.

Humanenist Hawking finds the incompatibility our primitive genes with the technical development. A celestial catastrophe may occur in millions of years due to collision of galaxies, but a civilisation may annihilate itself within thousands of years.

What is common in all these four models, - Atman is an immaterial entity. It is clear why one cannot catch Atman experimentally with material equipments or derive it by logical intelligence.

                                                                 Fantasy is superior to intelligence

We have got five senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. Things which can be percieved directly or indirectly through our five physical senses are called concrete nouns. The opposite of concrete nouns is the name of anything that we cannot directly or indirectly perceived by your five senses which are called abstract nouns. Concrete nouns are easier to illustrate than abstract nouns. A thing that belongs to concrete nouns exists by itself while a thing that belongs to abstract nouns is correlated with a concrete noun. Concrete nouns are material entities while abstract nouns are immaterial entity.

Our five senses are inferiror to some of the other animals. Human is not good in the power of instinct. Human intuiton is not praise-worthy. The animals have wonderful Instinct. The fox and the crow are well-known for Intelligence. The sharks, the dolphines, the ants, and the migrating birds have good Intuition. But Human brain has good capacity of imagination and fantasy. Albert Eisnstein realized that logic leads us from A to B, but fantasy can take us anywhere. Therefore, fantasy is superior to intelligence. The great poets, great scientists, great thinkers, and our young children have something in common, that is, boundless FantasyDoes ghosts or fairies belong to concrete nouns or abstract nouns? How many wings a fairy has,- two, four or eight? What is about Atman which cannot perceived by our five senses. Is Atman a concrete noun or an abstract noun?

A PEEP OF ATMAN

Long ago, our ancestors believed that a dead became as a star in the sky. A dead could seldom speak. But our ancestors believed that their beloved one sitting in the sky as a star looked after her/his near and dear on the Earth to guide them, to consolate them, and to protect them, as a poet says: -“You go on saying so many things without uttering a single word!” Before we leap in the dark in search of Atman, we go again back in time, not only by a hundred years when the above mentioned Atman-experiment was performed, but by many thousands of years ago. You all know well that to get momentum at your jump, you have to go backwards and then run fast.

It is astonishig to find that our ancestors had many things in common all over the world. They believed that all the dead lived in Heaven as they were on the Earth. The God ruling in Heaven was called Indra in India, Zheus in Greece and Thor in Scandinavia. A peculiar coincidence was the cloud being his car to move over the Earth. Today, we call our those ancestors as  Pantheists. In Europe, the Pantheists were later haunted as Pagans, and disappereaed within Panentheism. But Pantheism claims herself as the mother of all religions. We may see later to what extent her daughters Monotheism, Panentheism, even Humanenism bear the features of their mother, - Pantheism.

The Veda of Atman was conceived by our great great ancestors out of their child-like intuition and fantasy, before the commencement of the writing media, i.e., via hearing from older generations. They could find two entities in a single body, one as “fat” and the other as “thin”. The “fat” entity was the biological body, and the“thin” was the Atman. But the concepts of Atman was not the same for all. The quarrel over qualitatively different conceptions the thin entity or Atman has been antagonistic for thousands of years. Those who maintained the existing conception of Immortal Atman were the Traditionals, and those who claimed of Temporal Atman were the Radicals. The Radicals argued:

“since fatness, etc, reside only in the body, it alone is the soul and no other,

and such phrases as "my body" are only significant metaphorically.

If a beast slain in the Jyothishtoma rite will itself go to heaven,

why then does not the sacrificer forthwith offer his own father?”

So, the the two rival schools became bitter enemies. The Traditionals nicknamed the Radicals as Charvakas or “clever rhetoricians”. On the other hand, the Radicals humiliated the Traditionals by rebuking:  “The three authors of the Vedas were buffoons, knaves, and demons”.

Anyway, that knowledge of Atman called Veda of Shruti (hearing) was transmitted acoustically in the memory of human species. They died long long ago, and that biological memory has not been carried to us by our DNA, and never retrievable after a hundred generations. Some of the remnants of  Shruti Veda were preserved in writings which their descendants had to interprete later on. Therefore, in understanding the emergence of Atman, we have to rely solely upon the scriptueres that came into practice about five thousand years ago. We can learn how ferociously our ancestors quarreled over Atman. The antagonistic models of Atman led the world people to commit genocides at full scale which will be described in brief in the next following chapters.

We know that in the endeavour to make Homo sapiens better than their cousin Chimpanzees who are 99% alike them in DNA and 99.9% in their teeth, the ancient human civilizations witnessed three constellations formed by ten great thinkers in three zones of the world: Krishna-Mahavira-Buddha in India, Abrhaham-Moses-Jesus-Muhammed in Middle East, and Socrates-Plato-Aristotle in Europe.

The Indain concept of recycling Atman existed before the commencement of the orthographic media. At that time knowledge was carried orally via human memories, from generations to generations, naturally with some distortions and alterations, which was called Shruti (from hearing). At about five thousands of years ago, the prehistoric model of immortal yellowy green Atman was later documented in ancient Indian Sanskrit scriptures, called the Veda. The word Veda means science or knowledge.

When the new media for carrying knowledge, i.e., writing instead of hearing from old people, came into practice, there emerged an orthodox group of Indian priests who stuck firmly to the old scripture. The priests practicing the doctrine of the four volumes of Veda were called VedicBrahmins. All of the doctrine of four Vedawas not accepted by some other Brahmins because of its inherent logical inconsistency. Two groups of reformist Brahmins attempted to modify it. But one group of radical Brahmins refuted the doctrine of four Veda who called themselves Lokayata (Humanist). They were labelled as Charvakas (clever rhetorician) by their opponents.

Veda is a term which the Indo- Europeans used to define knowledge. When our ancestors passed their audiovisual and spiritual knowledge to their heirs orally only, that was called Shruti Veda(knowledge from hearing).

In the first Veda,“Rigveda”, the first hymn was attributed to “Agni” or Fire. In Russian Fire is called Agniya. It appears that descendents of Indo European language were separated before they had learnt to make fire. The knowledge of making fire was the start point of the dominance of Homo sapiens over the other animals on the Earth. Only Homo sapiens can make fire, although yet nobody can fully understand the plasma state of matter. The fire was not only of great materialistic importance, but also of high spiritual importance.

Our endeavour for Veda continued in different branches such as language, arts, technique, religion and philosophy. It got its momentum in nineteenth century out of the works of Charles Darwin, Clerk Maxwell, Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud, who however were contemporary and could not see each others. The theme of Atman Veda or Science of the Spirit, is the Veda based upon our knowledge in 2010 A.D., while the fourth one, the “Artha Veda”, was written in Sanskrit two thousands years ago.

It is well-known that Atman or the soul has been a quest of Homo sapiens for tens of thousands of years to win over fearful Death. A model of immortal Atman was postulated in four books three thousand years ago which were called Veda. The vedic concepts of  Atman  as a separate entity was refuted by the Charvakas for its inconsistency, and they asserted by logic that Atman was inseparable from the body. Agnostic Buddha was not convinced by any of the two hostile schools. His dilemma was, -‘where is Atman?’ and ‘where it is not!’

In Atman Veda, it is an attempt to understand the Homo sapiens, principally from socio-economic perspectives as an evolutionary process like that of the biological one. Rig Veda is a mile stone in that perspective belonging to Hinduism which they call the Eternal religion. Hinduism is an "ism" which encompasses the ancient Eurasian, African and American philosophy of Pantheism. It is claimed that Pantheism an open system where everyone can contribute at any time and at any place. Egyptian pyramids bear its glory and its heirs today are one-third Homo sapiens of the world (Hindu, Jain, Buddhist...). Incarnation was rejected by Semite Monotheism.

According to the Vedic Brahmins the Atman was an immortal immaterial entity integrated in a material biological body, while the Lokayatas alias Charvakas advocated that Atman was a temporal immaterial entity assimilated in a material biological body. Contemporary peers of the ancient Vedic Brahmins and the humanist Lokayatas alias Charvakas were the ancient philosophers in Greece, where similar conflict of conceptions about Atman prevailed. During that turmoil of antagonistic ideas in India, long before the birth of Jesus Christ, there appeared Indian Prophets Mahavira and Buddha to trace new paths. Enlightened Buddha was not much impressed by those contradictory concepts, and he died as an Agnostic. His dilemma was, -‘Where is Atman?’ and ‘Where it is not!’

Nobody could yet give us a reliable account of a visit in the other world. However, now-a-days, more and more Hindus can recall their previous lives in India, which can be observed through hundreds of Indian satellite TV channels all over the world. Many religious Indian Muslims are shaken in their faith about rebirth. Recently, I was confronted in a party to say something about it as a scientist. Before I opened my mouth to guess what I was in my previous life that would surely had annoyed the entire audience, my wife pressed my toes under the table, warning me to take care of my tongue, for which I was unfit to live in my land of birth as a university teacher, a gold medallist from the Oxford of the East, who could never understand why the element gold, unimportant for life, was so precious. My father, my saviour, who used to say that the best student of Oxford was least politician in the world, was frustrated over me, and at my age fifty, he wrote me in his last letter, -“My son, I feel pity for you. You cannot read people!” Every morning when I awake up, I touch my body to be sure that I am still alive in flesh and blood. I have not yet emptied my cup of poison. The peculiar pain in me had let me to construct a cross of wood upon which a crumpled heart of hardboard, striped alternatively in blue and red tapes, is spiked with three big nails.

I  have not yet emptied my cup

Then, I recalled my antecedents, and decided to deliver it here in black and white instead. Although my wife, who is from another world, accuses me for misogyny and computer addiction, because of  my indifference in watching satellite TV programs, I confess that I am a proud henpecked, and not alone, who is ready to take active part in any international procession, if arranged for us. Wife is a friend by fate, - according to Indian epic Mahabharata. In Europe, an ideal wife can always read the thoughts, dreams and miens of her spouse. So, I am very lucky that I did not become a famous philosopher or scientist, perhaps because my wife was not bad enough like Xanthippe*, in spite of our insurmountable language barrier. In Indian language the blood-relatives are called Atmiya (part of Atman) while the marital relatives are Kutumbiya or allies. How can my wife read me which my Atmiyas cannot? Then the definition of Atmiya is misleading. Atman is more epigenetic than genetic. Then gold medallist me all on a sudden could realize that the value of gold is epigenetic.

I am not an addict of the high Soma as the ancient writers of Veda were. So, to write Atman Veda is a laborious and daring attempt, and according to my spouse, Google has made lazy me an insane. A correct diagnosis of Atman problem is an ambitious task. A nascent Atman is a neutral entity which becomes contaminated by illusion, called Maya, during its stay within a biological body. Those who advocate for Atman as an immortal immaterial entity integrated in a material biological body, assert that its seat is at the heart. Those who advocate that Atman is a temporal immaterial entity assimilated in a material biological body, assert that its seat is at the brain. There are animals which have neither brain nor heart, not mentioning about persons in military service who have to keep their hearts and brains under hibernation; the seat of Atman is therefore, an open question. To eliminate that problem we may assert a ground-zero level of Atman which is related to metabolism and reproduction, common for all living beings.

Once upon a time, we the Homo sapiens were true cannibals. Still today Homo sapiens kill themselves although even the Non-vegetarians do not eat human. Cannibalism of Atman, which in its highest state leads to war and genocide, is a multiversal field of study. As an evil entity, Atman is called “Duratman”  (du¨+atman: evil spirit) which exists since the dawn of creation. Atman Veda would remain incomplete without the study of Duratman. Therefore, in this study, the Duratman has got its due weight. Scientists believe that matter and anti-matter annihilate into Vacuum where new universe is created spontaneously. The same may be also in case of Atman and Duratman.

Self oppression, which in its highest form is suicide, is a peculiar phenomenon in Homo sapiens which is less understood. The features of fast and slow suicides are described with empathy for the victims of circumstances. Now, when my search of Atman comes near to an end, I would like to cite Universal Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore who wrote at his old age:

"Who You?-asked the rising Sun at the beginning of the day,

- There was no reply.

Who You, -uttered the setting Sun at the end of the day,

- There came no reply."

I am writing Atman Veda while I admit that I have never seen the face of Atman, who has loved me ever since. May be, it is because I am somewhat colour blind as my spouse complains. My review of the previous attempts to catch Atman is incomplete, and now abandoned. May be our material instruments are incapable to detect any immaterial entity. Scientists use mathematical tools to find the Black Holes in the sky. No Atman has yet been detected in Heaven or on Earth by any of the methods, a field of my endeavour for more than half a century. Hastily I have to end my search when my time of search is soon out. Thereby, I draw a conclusion beforehand, that a scientist usually do at the end, "There is more work to be done for complete understanding of this subject".

DIGITAL ATMAN MODEL

Fortunately, we may know about Atman by a method called Phenomenography, where the people's conceptions are the raw material. To the best of our present knowledge Atman is an immaterial being. We leave aside the debate whether Atman could be an untetectable Dark Material. Then the people’s beliefs are analysed to find qualitative differences. The "Qualitatively different conceptions of Atman" presented in Atman Veda has been categorised from our documented knowledge about it since five thousand years ago. The existing conceptions of Atman or the soul can be put in four qualitatively different categories:

i) The oldest model of Atman as an immortal entity integrated in a material biological body which may recycle infinite times on the Earth until it can escape for eternal time in Heaven, evolved before man had learnt to make fire, is called Pantheism. Only one-third of the people in the world (Hindus, Jains, Zoroastrians, Buddhists...) stick to this prehistoric model of Atman.

ii) A quite different model of the Atman, called the Ruha, conceived by the Semites in which there are two human lives. Our first life on the Earth is for utmost three or four Giga seconds, and the later one after death is eternal in Heaven. That model led to Monotheism, which is supported by nearly one third of the world population (Jews, Muslims, ...).

iii) In the hybrid third model, where the Atman is called the soul or the spirit, to which the rest one third of people of the world belong (Christians, Sikhs, Bahais,..), is known as Panentheism. The model depicts a hologram with the features of both Monotheism and Pantheism, has a head of Monotheism and a tail of Pantheism, or vice versa.

iv) The fourth model of Atman as a once used temporal immaterial entity, assimilated in a material biological body, was first postulated by the Lokayatas alias Charvakas in India, and some of the sophists in Greece which known as Humanenism. The Indian Lokayatas alias Charvakas and their European peer, the humanist Sophists, refuted the prevailing doctrine of Pantheism.

The four models of Atman: Pantheism, Monotheism, Panentheism and Humanism have gone through many modifications in course of time. Pantheism is pentachromic, Monotheism is monochromic, Panentheism is dichromic and Humanenism is black and white. Although every human being claims to belong one of the four principal groups, the spectrum of her/his Atman traces, more or less, all of these four perceptions. Therefore, this work has been a quest of describing “life quality score”, irrespective of belonging of a person to anyone of the four groups.

Finally, we have four key-words in Atman Veda or the Science of the Spirit:

Immortal, Recycling, Creator, Incarantion.

These four key-words bear the identification codes for Pantheism, Monotheism, Panentheism and Humanism as shown in a table below:

In order to introduce a model-indepent life quality score, we go through all these models in detail, and meet people of the world who by birth and faith are adherent to all these four basic models, i.e., Hinduism (1111), Buddhism (1100), Judaism and Islam (1010), Christianity (1011), Sikhism (1110), and Humanenism (0010 or 0000).

ATMAN-BODY RELATION AND LIFE QUALITY

We find two things in common in all these models:

A biological body that belongs to a concrete noun which we denote by symbol B, and an unknown entity Atman entangled to a biological body that cannot be perceived with any our senses which we denote by symbol A.

Life is a combination of the two but the two have seats in different universes. In a simple form we write a living being L as a sum of B and A. We write

L = B + iA

where i denotes that of an imaginary factor arising from another dimension.

The theme of  L = (B + iA) is developed further in finding life quality score at the end of the book where in a fantasy world an aspect of Atman has been furnished with the decoration of a simple mathematical beauty.

Irrespective of the belonging of person to a particular model, it is more interesting and useful to guess ones epigenetic life quality from an arbitrary grading. The seven aspects we are interested in the evaluation of the life quality score of a person are:

1. Inheritance                                2. Education

3. Health                                        4. Environment

5. Family                                        6. Career

7. Rewards

The aspect of epigenetic life quality score can be found qualitatively and quantitatively on the basis of biological and social inheritance, plus personal achievements through labour and luck.

Naturally, the Atman and biological body strive to gain a maximum score in life. The different aspects of our environment we live in that determine our life score, are described is the part of the book “World of Atman”. What become our lot out of the objective condition, seldom can be blotted by subjective condition.

II.  Pantheism

A prehistoric Seer or Prophet conveyed the Oracles of Veda when Hearing the only Media

All Homo sapiens of the world once belonged to Pantheism. The sun, moon, five planets, high mountains, large rivers, and hig trees, all were Gods which were considered to govern their life. Although Pantheism today encompasses only one third of the world population, all human culturally inherits something of ancient Pantheism, for example, the name of the week days. The Sun, the Moon, the planets Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn were Gods having their restective days Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wenesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Only one creator God seated in heaven was not so interesting. There were disasters which were to be explained. The fantasy of the Homo sapiens led to perceive life in every thing as like as small children today do.

The sun, moon, five planets, high mountains, large rivers, and hig trees, all were Gods which were considered to govern their life. In vedic perception, when life emerged in the sea, the protector God came down to the Earth as a Fish to protect the creation. Then a fish also has Atman. Its Atman may remain the same one when it changes sex from a male to a female. The Indian belief of incarnation of God as a fish, do not tell us whether that fish was a male or a female. Perhaps, it had the natural kind of change of sex from a male to a female during its life time. The Gods can however become male for female as they wish.

The second time God became an amphibian, a Tortoise, when the land was suitable for life. In the third time God became as a Boar, mammal on the land. During the fourth time God became a half-animal and half-man, Narasingha, like that of Phinx. This was the end of God descending as animals.

Then it was time for God to become as Homo sapiens. In the fifth time God came down to the Earth as a Dwarf, small sized Homo Erectus. In the sixth time God landed as a man named Parshuram who killed his own mother with an axe at the order of his father, and then he axed all the kings and princes of India to take revenge for the fault of suduction of his mother by a King.

Then on the seventh and eighth time God came to Earth as kings Rama and Krishna to take part in two great wars in ancient world India. The two wars were like the two World Wars of modern time, but limited only to the warriors, except the terrorist killing of five heiring minor princes by two survived warriors of the defeated.

At the ninth time God descended as Buddha, who rejected all the vedic conceptions and practices except that of the recycling Atman. The tenth and the last incarnation of God is Kalki who will arrive on the Earth before the Doom Day and this prediction is in congruent with the non-Pantheist’s belief of the last Messiah.

Iswar (which means God or Allah) is an ordinary first name of many Hindu males which may terrify the non-Pantheists. In Hinduism nobody cares for the first name, only the surname which bears the belonging of the caste is important. Hindu Holy scripts says that the son of the creator God Iswar was named Manu, and all the people of the world are descendants of Manu.

Only one third of the world people are Pantheists. Hinduism call itself "Sanatan Dharma" or the classical/eternal religion to which one sixth of world people belong, and claims that it is the mother of all religions. The word "Dharma" means the qualities or properties of a thing. The coincidence of the thoughts of Greeks, Vikings and Indians is striking. However, Pantheism in Europe and Middle-East has been absorbed by Monotheism and Panentheism. Apparently Pantheism is an abominated Paganism to the Jews, Muslims and Christians, which is an unforgivable sin. They deny the Pantheism they inherit from their ancestors which manifests itself as religious heritage in many of their rituals.

The Goddess Durga kills a monster (left), and becomes Kali when angry (right)

In contrast to that of the West, the Indian Goddesses are more inportant than the Gods. Males are like spermatozoa, a momnets stimulation to phallus where it has done its job. The females were the bearer of life. The Goddess planet Earth also had her mentruation once in every year. The Greek Earth Goddess Ceres has a daughter Projerpine who was kidnaped by stalker God Hades, ruler of the Kingdom of Death. She did not commit suicide becuase she could unite with her mother for a few months in every year. The Indian Goddess Durga, who once killed a Monster, comes only for ten days every year to her father Himalaya. She herself became a Monster when angry with other Gods, but ashamed, stretching her toungue out, when she had accidentally tramped over husband. An ideal wife, whatever angry, should never tramp over her husband.

The Cunt-Temple of the suicided Goddess         The Phallus of God Shiva

The Gods and the Goddesses in Pentheism were like human beings. Goddess Shotee had married God Shiva against the will of her father which ended in her suicide when she felt piqued by her parents. Her dead body was then cut into pieces by the Executive God Vishnu and spread all over. Kamakya, the place where her “yoni” (cunt) fell, a temple was buit. Still today, it bleeds from her period in every lunar month. Her spouse Shiva’s phallus is also a subject of ritual for all religious Hindu women.

However, they do not have to work for food, and they are immortal, and have been impotent long since, although all the Goddesses are free from wrinkles without any botox operation. Their genitals are worshiped which causes the number of their mortal devotees to be redoubled in every century.

Goddess Sati piqued by her parents committed suicide, and she was reborn as Goddess Durga. Once upon a time she became terrible Goddess Kali when angry. The three phases of the same Goddess is a reflection of the observed woman character.

Vitueless handsome God Kartik          The God of Success Ganesh

Apparently, the Indian Gods are like old male lions and Goddesses are like young lionesses. The creater God Brahama, Lord of the Universe, is  no more active. The handsome God Kartik who is good for nothing, rides a pegion. His only virtue is to seduce the other sex, even his own mother. His younger brother Ganesh, the God of Success has a head of elephant and rides a mouse.

The siblings of Kartik and Ganesh, Laksmi is the Goddess of Wealth, and Saraswati is the Goddess of Wisdom who are comparable to Goddess Hera and Goddess Athena of Greece.

Laksmi, the Goddess of Wealth               Saraswati, Goddess of Wisdom

But in contrast to Goddess Athena, Saraswati has a music instrument in her hands. She never quarrels for wealth or beauty. It is peculiar that in her worship one must collect a handful of earth from the home of a prostitute. The ancient priests of India believed that the intelligentia and the whores were alike! It was a self-criticism to disclose the truth why all historians in the world glorify the agressor victors. The Goddesses of wisdom was not much different from a public woman.

Pantheism is pentachromic, i.e. of many colours. Today, only one third of the world people are listed as Pentheists. The Charvaks who did not accept the Vedic deities from logic were lost. Their doctrine of Atman as a body-bound mortal entity did not survive long. It was strangled a thousand years ago.

The contemorary Pentheism in the Middle East and Europe flourished for thousands of years. But that changed qualitatively from a new doctrine of Monotheism introduced by the Semites five thousands years ago. The Monotheist Jews and Muslims have a monochromic doctrine. But the single colour pure Monotheism could survive only in a closed system. In an open system, the disorder always tends to increase. The belief of Muslims and Jews in one God, fully separated, was basically imcompitable with the idea that God himself looks like Homo sapiens. Thus they fell in the trap of Pantheism, worshiping Holy stones and Holy sources of water. Then the Jews and Muslims embraced the doctrine of Monotheism which inherited some features of Pantheism.

Still, the Muslims and Jews may be classified in a Monochromic doctrine who are now about one third of the world population. They believe that the Creator and the Creation have nothing in common except the Creator looks like human. They do not believe in incarnation. They believe that the Creator and Homo sapiens are not of the same Art. However, the Muslims, but not the Jews, believe that a child of parthenogenesis can be a male too.

Holy river Ganges in India                             Offering food to departed Atman

More than one third people of the world embraced a more attractive doctrine which is called Panentheism, where God is one, but of the same Art as the Homo sapiens. Then, God is like a human being, even if not incarnated himself as a fish or a human being, He can beget children with any woman to share power with Him, like that of the Gods and Goddesses in Pantheism. The doctrine of Panenteism is thus dichromic, a hybrid of monochromic Monotheim and pentachromic Pantheism.

In Hinduism there are 330 million Deities. In Monotheism and Panentheism the number of Angels is innumerable. There are four Arch-Angels to help an active supreme God in the latter theisms, while in Pantheism the creator God has handed over all power to the Executive Gods Bishnu, Shiva, and Indra. The other difference is the messenger Gabriel is an Arch-Angel, while the messenger Deity Narada in Pantheism has got a much lower position.

Pantheism is like Expanding Universe which has no start point and no end, extending on the Earth from surviving Australian natives to American natives. The Pantheism described above is only a profile of Indian Pantheism. Everyone on the Earth has a place in Pantheism, has right to create his own Gods and Goddesses according ones wish. Many boys in India are named as Iswar (God) and many girls are named as Iswari (Goddess).  The cultural diversity in India is startling, no similarity between the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern parts of the Sub-Continent.

The Greeks, Vikings and others who belonged to Pantheism were assimilated in Panentheism or Montheism. The Greek Gods and Goddesses are now living only by name of the stars and planets in the sky. However, the Greeks celebrate every spring the "Fertility Day" from the pagan traditon, although they have no Cunt-Temple of Aphrodite or Statue of the Phalleus of Zeus. Many Panentheists today have got a Valentine Day to observe when they can spare the Dildos in their drawers.

Human are fond of Pantheism which is reflected in their belief in horosope and lucky-stone.  Pantheism is inheritaed from the stone-age of Homo sapiens. Indian Pantheism is multicultural in character. Apparently Pantheism has diappeared from most part of the world, but there are many remnants of it in metamorphs surviving in Montheism and Panentheism, because Pantheism is the mother of all religions.

In Atman Veda, Buddhism is classified in Pantheism instead of Panentheism, although apparently Buddhism has some doctrines congenial with Christianity. Still Buddhism in Atman Veda comes under Pantheism not only because its belief in rebirth of immortal Atman but also because of its ignorance about the existence of a  Creator of the Universe, as it was formulated at the end of the Chapter on Immortal Atman.

In addition, Buddhism emerged in India when the doctrine of the four Veda was challenged. It became a world religion two thousand years ago. When the Vedic Brahmins were at the point of extinction, they declared their Atheist Buddha as the Nineth Incarnation of God, and thereby could set another more beautiful colour in their Pantheism. When all overseas contact by sea-going vessels became strictly prohibitted by the Vedic Brahmins, Buddhism in India was shallowed by Hinduism. Soon afterwards almost all the Buddhists in India came back to Hinduism under the doctrine of four Veda.

                                       Gautama Buddha

Buddhism was greatly influenced both by the ideology of the Humanenist Lokayata alias Charvakas and the Vedic doctrine of recycling AtmanChristianity in Europe adjusted itself as a hybrid of Semite Monotheism and Roman Pantheism. However, Buddhism became qualitatively different from Chistianity, although we may be confused from some similar sayings of Jesus and Buddha

Not Crucification but inserting poles through the lower orifice was Indian method to punish people who adored Buddha

At the beginning, both the Christianity and Buddhism suffered equally. The Pantheists in Europe crucified or beheaded the Christians until Constantine became the Emperor of Rome. The Pantheists in India put the Buddhists upon stakes passed through their path of excreation, at a public places, in order to terrify people, until the Indian Emperor Ashoke became a Buddhist in 300 B.C.

The Indian method of putting people over an Iron stake was no less terrible than that of Roman crucification. There were many Buddhist men and women put upon stakes who had confessed their adherence to Buddhism. Rabindra Nath Tagore narrates about a girl, named Sreemati who dared to defy the order of arrogant Hindu Emperor Ajatshatru, and she confessed, -"It is me Shreemati, who adored Buddha". Then at the dawn of next day "the stone under the stake was stained by blood" from her.

Buddha was influenced both by the ideology of the Humanenist Lokayata alias Charvakas and the Vedic doctrine of recycling Atman. But it appears that he was more influenced by  the conceptions of his predecessors Mahavira (500 B.C) and Rishabha (1000 B.C.), the founders of Jainism in India.

            Rishabha (1000 B.C.)                Mahavira (500 B.C.)

Buddha succeeded to synthesize all these complex and irrational thoughts in a simple doctrine that made Buddhism a religion of the worldly people. His religion became in practice “Lokayata” or religion of the people. Buddha predicated in the lanuguage of the people which was then Pali, not in Sanskrit, which then became like Latin in Europe at the fall of Roman Empire.

Christianity in Europe adjusted itself as a hybrid of Semite Monotheism and Roman Pantheism. Buddhism became qualitatively different from Chistianity, although we may be confused from the similar sayings of Jesus and Buddha. Buddhism belongs to Pantheism but without the glamour of gorgeous colours. So, when Pantheist Hinduism accepted Buddha as the 9th incarnation of God, the Pantheist Buddhism almost disappeared from India within Hinduism, whereas when Monotheist Islam accepted Jesus Christ as a great Prophet, it failed to revert the Panentheist Christians within Islam. Monotheism was qualitatively different from Panentheism. In the next two chapters we follow-up Monotheism and Panentheism when the statement will become more clear.

As mentioned before, in an open system, Panthesim is the ultimate natural home of all theisms. Therefore, it is no wonder that modern global thrust for piercing and tattooing is just a symbolic forward march of the comeback of Pantheism, where the world politicians will become as the World Vedic Brahmins. In that case, soon or later, the opponents of Pantheism will become weak minorities as the adherents of "Small Vehicle" in Buddhism.

When the existence of the Homo sapiens was no longer under the threat of Nature, they were entangled in internal strife as the other animals. Pantheism is the most ancinet religion of Homo sapiens which emerged at all parts the world since the prehistoric period. Homo sapiens, like other animals, fought with each other for food, hierarchy and sexual reproduction. So were their Gods and Goddesses too. There was always a supreme God in all kind of Pantheism. In Hinduism, the Supreme God Brahma became ultimately a sorry figure. It was becasue the priests were more powerful than the kings.

III.   Monotheism

"If Allah wishes, I will go to Lahore

There, I do Jihad against the Sikhs!

If alive, I become a Victor, if killed, - a Martyr

The Tauhid of one God lasts up on the sacrifices of lives."

                            - Abul Mansur Ahmed

About 2000 B.C., the doctrine of Pantheism was boldly refuted by a young man from a Nomad community in the Middle East whose name was Abraham. He was contemporary of the Vedic Brahmins in India. Abraham came with the perception of “One Almighty  Invisible God” and he challenged against the claim of Nimrod, the ruler Babylon. Nimrod boasted that he also can give one life or death to anyone, and no less powerful than the God of Abraham.

Later on, rebel Abraham was banished out of the country Babylon together with his comrades for the offence of a violent riot against a Pantheist ritual. Abraham together with his half-sister and wife Sarai, and some of his followers travelled to Egypt where he lost his wife Sarai to the Pharaoh for a short period. When Abraham came back home from Egypt, Sarai was abducted by the King of Palestine for about a fortnight. Abraham was a great man who could remain "fearless in danger". These two periods of abduction of Abraham’s wife Sarai were quite short in comparison with the abduction of Seeta, the wife of Rama, by the Demon King Ravana for a period of eight years. Indian Prince Rama was the 7th incarnation of God, which did not help. However, in Pantheism kidnap was a grievous sin, not an adultry under mutual consents. Krishna, the 8th incarnation of God, was a paramour of his maternal uncle’s wife Radha, and that affair became a Holy ballad instead.

Prophet Abraham could see how the human males become senseless during esculation. In order to reduce that feeling, Abraham introduced circumcision of human males. It is the male foreskin, or prepuce, which is the principal location of erogenous sensation in the human males. Removal of the prepuce may substantially reduce the erogenous sensation. Therefore, in the appropriate cultural context, circumcision is revealed as a sacrifice of "sinful" human enjoyment in this earthly life, for the sake of afterlife. The circumcision of Abraham removed only the very tip that extended beyond the penis. Moses who was brought up by the childless sister and wife of Pharaoh is Egypt, was not circumcised. Moses did not allow his sons and other Israeli boys to be circumcised.

     Ten Commands of Moses

Although Moses prohibited circumcision during the 40 years in the wilderness, Joshua reinstituted circumcision at Gilgal after the death of Moses. All Israelites had to be rigorously and deeply circumcised before they would become soldiers in Joshua's army for the conquest of Palestine. It is not certain whether deep circumcision made the Israelis better soldiers. But if the Pope had introduced castration of all priests, then no Catholic Father would have become a paedophile.

The Jews and Muslims adopted circumcision as a religious ritual up to modern times. The Muslims consider circumcision as Sunnah, i.e., example of Prophet Muhammad. But Holy Quran did not make circumcision mandatory. If Prophet Muhammad was circumcised before he was forty years, then it was a Pagan tradition of circumcising boys and girls. No Hadith, books written by intimate friends of Muhammad, tells that Prophet Muhammad was circumcised at his old age. However, for unknown reason the Muslims consider the circumcision as important as the confirmation of the Christians.

Then, during civil riots between Monotheists and Non-monotheists, the penis of a male can be quickly checked to identify his religious belonging and instantaneously determine his fate. Genocides, out of Balkan, are generally performed by outsiders, and seldom by the intruder neighbours.

Monotheist's circumcision                             Hindu-Muslim riots in India

When the Monotheists were entangled in conflict with the Pantheists and the Panentheists, communal riots were wide spread all over the world. In a multicultural society which had not yet performed ethnic purification, the riots are antagonistic. Homo sapiens feel less sympathy in slaughtering cattle bought from market than that raised at home. In civil riots, the strangers can do that job better. Circumcision of males is then the accepted method to differentiate between Monotheists and Non-Monotheists. The picture above is a typical example of an Indian riot between Hindu and Muslims.

The golden calf from gold ornaments          Sacariis fought for Monotheism

Pharaohs and Nimrods claimed themselves the most powerful. In Babylon, the Assyrian Pantheism and its hierarchy under Nimrod was not acceptable to some of the inhabitants. Abraham, who had conceived the doctrine of Monotheism, led a riot destroying the Pentheist deities. He was then banished from Babylon along with his followers. But later on, the doctrine of Montheism was established permanently by the Semites in the Middle East. Monotheism had pros and cons for the hierarchy. Monotheism predicating an almighty God above them was uncomfortable for them. But Montheism served the Dictators better because of its totalitarian doctrine of One God, One Religion, One Language, One Party, and One Leader for Monolithic People under eternal emergency rule.

Under Hajj to kiss the Holy stone in Mecca and then sacrifice ("Allah ko piari hay Kurbani")

Pantheism has never been an outdated doctrine. Although, the golden calf was never reconstructed in the temples of the Middle East from the gold ornaments of women, boys and girls, the longest Sura in the Holy Quran became "The Cow", not the Camel. Within milleniums, a few hundred junior Gods appeared beside "One and Almighty God", al-"Elayah".

Once the Homo sapiens were at the verge of extinction, having only about one thousand of them surviving. But tens of thousands years ago they became the most powerful species on the Earth like that of the Dinosaurs tens of millions years ago.

Three million Muslims in KSA stoning Satan                     Voyage of the Messenger of God

The American Indians living on the other side of the Atlantic, called Red Indians were Pantheists who had built a civilisation comparable to that of the ancient Greek and Indian civilisations. The Red Indians almost disappeared during the last a few hundred years after a few terrorist skirmishes against the European white settlers. They are of archeological interest only, or one of the endangered specimens.

In the struggle of existence, there are one billion Muslims who behave today like the Red Indians, and who may face the similar fate during the next hundred years. Monotheist Muslims were heirs of Abraham. During the peak of their civilisation under the Abbasids, some Muslim philosophers saved the Greek "Veda" from the onslaught of the European Crusaders and developed it.

Crusader Half-Christian Hulagu Khan and his chief wife

In 1250s, the whole Asia devastated by the Mongols was plunged into darkness for five hundred years. Half-Christian Mongol Hulagu Khan, united with the Christians of Armenia and other nearby regions, invaded the Muslim Empire from the North. These less civilised Crusaders were least interested in heretic's piles, rather they build pyramids by the fresh heads of millions of Muslims in every cities they conquered. "Resist and you will suffer the most terrible catastrophe. We will shatter your mosques and reveal the weakness of your God, and then we will kill your children and your old men together”, - wrote Hulagu Khan.

All the centres of Veda, the nurseries of the forbidden fruit of knowledge, were destroyed to the ground by the invader Mongols and their accomplices, who were far more worse than the European crusaders. Fortunately, the ancient Greek "Veda" modified and developed by some of the enlightened Muslims, could flee back home to Europe and succeeded to lay the foundation of Eurpean Renaissance

Since eighteenth century, under European colonialism, the down trodden Muslims became the scum of the world, sunk beneath the "Saudi Jaheliat". However, a few thinkers, like Mahathir Muhammad, are still optimist who believe that Muslims will survive and make a come back, becoming ever strong as the Jews after after WWII, but perhaps after the loss of a half of them.

IV.   Panentheism

Thus I entered, and thus I go!
In triumphs, people have dropped down dead.
``Paid by the world, what dost thou owe-

"Me?'' - God might question; now instead,
'Tis God shall repay: I am safer so
.

          - Robert Browning

Pantheism in India, Scandinavia and Greece was contemporary to the Pantheism of Rome, which became the home of Panentheism since the fourth century. Apparently, the Greek and Roman Pantheism were alike. Blasphemers in Rome were crucified publicly instead of being offered a poison to drink. Which the Romans warriors terror had failed, the whole of Europe could later be seized by the Roman Pope. The Roman Pantheism changed into a Panentheism in the new Roman empire. The hierarchy structure of the army of the priests in Panetheism was more robust than any pyramid.

                                                       Roman Crucfications

Qualitatively, Panentheism became different from Pantheism and Monotheism. In Pantheism, Gods and Goddesses lived in the Olympiads, the King was not the Head of the priests. In Monotheism, the King was the Head of the priests, a prophet, but a slave of the only God. In Panentheism, the only one God gave the power of Attorney to a "Pope", the ruler of the rulers, who determined the fate of the human sheep in this world and the world after their death. Those who would not oblige the Pope, were condemned as heretics by His inqusition. The misdeeds of Inquisition knew no bound. Thousands of men, women and children were burnt alive whenever the priests of the churches had wished. They became victims like Jesus Christ who was brutally crucified by their Roman forefathers. What a tragedy when history repeats itself!

Attorney of God, the Pope       Inquisition victims               Bruno, burnt alive

When all the Pantheists in Europe embraced Christian Panentheism of Rome under the Pope, the conflict with the Monotheists became antagonistic. After ethnic cleaning of Europe, the ambition of the Pope was to conquer the whole world. To achive his goal, the Pope divided the Earth between the the Spaniards and Portugeeses, the West and the East respectively. The totalitarian power of Pope made what was unprecedented in human history, the entire population of American continent almost diasappered within a short period.

IN GOD WE TRUST                                 GODDESS WITH US

Panentheism Christianity was a hybrid of Semite Monotheism and and European Pantheism, built upon the Holy Roman Empire. Christianity came under an hierarchy of Pope or His equivalent who became next to the Almighty God. The conflict of Pantheism and Monotheism became antagonistic. While Pentheism cared little of the metamorphs of the ancient Gods and Goddesses, Monotheism had always to struggle for survival in fear of being assimilated as another sect within Pantheism.

The only doctrine of Montotheism in the Middle East was strangled by the Roman Pantheist pagans. At the fall of Holy Roman Empire, the last powerful bastion of Pantheism, there emerged a hybrid doctrine, Panentheism, out of the union of Montheism and Pantheism.

The South-Eastern part the Holy Roman Empire was lost to the Muslim Arabs around 800 A.D. which the European crusaders failed to recover. But after about four hundered years, the Christian Mongols destroyed the entire Muslim Arab Empire. But in the mean time the Muslims in Iraq and Syria had developed the ancient Greek Sophism which fled away back to Europe and brought the Renaissance. Within a few hundred years, Europe came under enlightenment. The North Europe revolted againt the hegemony of the Pope who had rely upon Ferdinand and Isabela of Spain and Portugal, dividing the Western and the Eastern hemisphere of the Earth to annihilate all the heretics of the world. The of colonialism saw the triumph of Panentheism all over the world. But underneath Panentheism grew Greek Humanistic Sophism again in Europe, and also in India the Lokayata alias Charvakas came back to open a new era for the mankind.
